Xenophilius Lovegood
Xenophilius Lovegood is introduced as a friend of the Weasleys in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, when he attends the wedding of Fleur Delacour and Bill Weasley. Later in the story, he explains to Harry, Ron, and Hermione the significance of the Deathly Hallows, which they had previously mistaken to merely be the mark of Dark wizard Grindelwald. Although initially supporting the efforts of the anti-Voldemort movement through his magazine, he later betrays the trio's location to the then-Death Eater-controlled Ministry of Magic in a bid to regain his kidnapped daughter. Xenophilius Lovegood wears the symbol of the Deathly Hallows around his neck as a charm.
His name is loosely made out of Greek words, 'Xeno' and 'Philia' which together translate either 'strange-loving' or 'foreign-loving'.
Xenophilius wife was, according to his daughter Luna, an extraordinary witch who died when a spell experiment went wrong. The Lovegoods live in Ottery St Catchpole, a small village on the south coast of England which is also home to the Weasley family. Luna is never mentioned as having siblings.
